As we were driving to the spot we would anchor the boat for the week, we were all just relaxing, little Captain Norm do his thing. When all the sudden he slams the engine into reverse, we all look at him confused and he smiles and says "did you see what we almost hit?"
Well this houseboat didn't have as awesome of a captain as we
did. . .
One of the dangers of Lake Powell are rocks in the middle of the lake, because Lake Powell is ultimately like Grand Canyon with a dam at the end of it, there are what would be rock pillars, but you put water in there, they become islands, and then the water covers them, they go underwater, but some pillars are really tall, or the water isn't high enough, so they end up being just a foot or two submerged, all ready to wreck havoc!
So here are some pictures of some unlucky Lake goes who got high centered on a rock in the middle of the lake, even after we went and marked it with a milk jug!
Scary to think it could have been us!
